Mannheim Steamroller Christmas San Jose Concert reviews
Pink Martini does a great hometown show!
The music began with the Portland zoo animals quieting down for the night as the evening was beautiful, with the warmth of the day lingering on, and the sunset. The non-stop showcasing of various band members with their instruments, guest artists, and of course China and Thomas at their best was the show. It was great to see that China's voice has recovered and she's still able to hit the high notes. The range of styles showed by the songs they sang, and of course how danceable their music is. The wonderful interaction with the audience was seen. China being upstaged by her son during the encore was fun to see. He came running onstage with his tambourine, and she scooped him up in her arms and continued singing like it was a natural event.

"Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, what can you say. The hottest band in the world Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. The creators of the rock "show" are still on a level above most bands even after giving them 40 years to catch up or copy. Def Leppard still rocks and sounds great. Put on an awesome show. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas gives it their all and as always, gives the fans what they want. You wanted the best and you got it. The make up and costumes conceal the fact that 40 years have gone by and even with the absence of Ace and Peter, while a bummer, can not stop Gene and Paul from bringing the house down."
Good concert, but I was left wanting a little more
I loved Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, though Randy Owen seemed a little tired (maybe he's still dealing with the vertigo he experienced a while back). The Frontmen of Country, the opening act, were outstanding. They would revisit the chorus and/or verses on multiple occasions after a song ended, involving the audience in singing. While that was nice, it happened too often and resulted in a lot of time being taken up that could have been better used to play a few more songs - and there are certainly many other great Alabama songs to choose from. I was so glad to see them but left wanting a bit more, though I miss Jeff Cook.
One of my favorite artists of all time is Mannheim Christmas Steamroller, but I have to say that I was disappointed with her arrival. Ms. Mannheim Christmas Steamroller arrived ONE HOUR late, and after reading all these other reviews, that is what she usually does. We pay money to come see you, and your return is to arrive late and provide a half @ss performance :(. Rapping other hip hop artists' songs for a good 15 min was Mannheim Christmas Steamroller. WTH? I came to see you perform your hits, not rap. When she was on stage, she seemed tired and was not energetic at all. She seemed like she didn't want to be there but just wanted to get it over with. She clearly doesn't appreciate her fans. The opening act was Bilal, which was horrible. He came out on time, though, at 8 o'clock. When he was done, the venue (chastain amphitheater) played an Alicia Keys CD on repeat until Mannheim Steamroller Christmas finally came on stage at 10 pm. I am disappointed.
